Wonder Woman 2021: Representation Matters

Wonder Woman has been around since 1941. Through the decades of comic book history, we have seen a slow progression in comic book representation of diverse and inclusive characters and storytelling. One of the most memorable comic book super heroes is Wonder Woman. As the owner of Lady Dye Yarns, I remember reading a couple of Wonder Woman comic books as a young adult, watching the television series, and the recent movies. Growing up as a black girl and seeing a lack of representation of super heroes on television and in books, I am now in a position to create a collection of products representing items and businesses that look like the diversity of 2021.

I thought about doing a club for awhile ago that would reflect on what would Wonder Woman look like when we think about representation matters. We wanted to create products and designs that represent a reimagined Wonder Woman in the eyes of a diverse & inclusive community. We hope that you sign up and we look forward to sharing with you the makers of this club in the coming weeks. But most importantly, we look forward to sharing with you what can be achievable when we are intentional in what we do. This is who we are as a company. We are intentional in all of our products and it’s part of our mission statement. We thank you for your continued investment in Lady Dye Yarns as well as the many BIPOC companies that we in-turn, invest in. Let’s continue the work…
